What Happens Between Signing and Installation?
After you sign your agreement with Venture Home, there are several steps that need to happen before your installation day. Most customers find this period to be the longest part of the process — typically around 90 days from signing to installation, though it can vary depending on your town and utility company.
Here's what's happening behind the scenes and what you can expect.
Your Project Team
Once your agreement is in place, you'll be assigned:
- Regional Operations Manager
- Senior Project Manager
These team members will oversee your project from start to finish. Our Customer Success team is also available throughout this period to answer questions and provide status updates.
💡 You don't need to navigate this process alone — your team is actively working on your behalf at every step.
Step-by-Step Process
1. Custom System Design
Our engineering team will finalize the custom design for your solar system based on:
- Your roof specifications
- Your energy usage patterns
- Your goals and preferences
This design forms the basis for your permits and utility applications, so it needs to be complete and accurate before anything else can move forward.
2. Permitting and Utility Approvals
This is typically the longest step in the pre-installation process and the one most subject to variability.
What we do:
- Handle all permitting with your town
- Submit interconnection application with your utility company
- Manage paperwork, submissions, and follow-up
What you do:
- Nothing — we manage this entirely on your behalf
Timeline note: Timelines are set by your municipality and utility. Some towns and utilities move faster than others, which is why the overall timeline can vary.
3. HOA Approval (If Applicable)
If your neighborhood has a homeowners association, Venture Home will work directly with your HOA to obtain any required approvals.
We're familiar with this process and will handle:
- Necessary documentation
- Communication with the HOA
- Follow-up on approval status
4. Site Survey (If Needed)
In most cases, our team will have everything we need from your initial consultation.
Occasionally, a more detailed site visit is required to confirm specific measurements or conditions before finalizing the design.
If this applies to your project, your project coordinator will reach out to schedule a convenient time.
